New NonMutant Benefit Compilation Available for Streaming & Purchase

NonMutant just shared its second benefit compilation NonMutant Presents Volume II: Unite!, a release whose proceeds benefit United We Dream. The organization helps to protect immigrants, defending against deportations, gaining educational access, and seeking justice for LBGTQ immigrants. A cavalcade of local Philly bands including The Stammer, Sandcastle, Lizdelise, Full Bush, Blood Sound, Sheena & Thee Nosebleeds, and Young Pilgrims can be found on the collection. On Friday, September 28, The Barbary will host a charity benefit show for United We Dream, featuring Young Pilgrims, Ess See, Full Bush, and The Stammer.

New Blood Sound Compilation Available for Streaming & Download

"Dark prom pop" purveyors Blood Sound plan to release their debut EP, as a duo, in 2018. However, before that happens, they wanted to share a collection of their favorite recordings with Chris J., who has decided to ride off on his new motorcycle towards the next phase of his life. Sink into your own stratosphere with Everything Is Always in the Past, as the sleek synths and pulse-pacing rhythms demand for you to dance in the dark. Before turning the page to a New Year/new beginning, embrace the memories of this sonic snapshot.

New Blood Sound Double LP Available for Streaming & Download

Prolific darkwavers Blood Sound have provided us with plethora of shimmering, new tunes to dance alone to in our bedrooms during these bleak days under a Trump administration. Or maybe you just might want to blast them loud and proud at the "Queer Rager" dance party happening outside the Loews hotel in Center City Philly this evening (from 7:30-9:30) to protest the proposed repeal of the Affordable Care Act and the unwanted visit from Donny "Small Hands" and his spineless Republican congressional delegation to our City of Brotherly Love. True Romance Magazine is a double LP with its first half composed mostly of synths and the second focused on compositions that are predominately made up of guitar and bass. You can take both for a spin below, and don't miss Blood Sound opening for Black Marble on Monday, February 6 at Johnny Brenda's.

New Track: "Nothing + Rockets" - Blood Sound

Blood Sound slowly opens the door to their latest single, “Nothing + Rockets,” revealing soaring guitar riffs and shimmering keys. Chris J.’s lonely baritone connects in a solemn manner, helping to shift the sonic undercurrent. Another endearing track to dance alone to in your bedroom from one of our favorite Philly dark wavers/new wavers.

Blood Sound Opening for Suburban Living at KFN Aug. 24

An evening of saturated dreams, fueled by a soundtrack of guitar/synth-driven nostalgia rock. Layers of dark and provocative melodies with haunted lyrics, supported by well-crafted songs with heart, this is not just one band, but a truly explosive lineup of artists. Philly’s own Blood Sound captures the pop sensibilities of 80's UK rock, fusing well-orchestrated drum programming with shadowy guitars and vocal melodies. They’ll be opening for Suburban Living, the brainchild of Virginia transplant Wesley Bunch, which weaves a lattice of reverberant longing, ensnaring the listener to join them on their sonic quest. Manchester has much to be jealous about these days. Hailing from Brooklyn, Surf Rock is Dead have a defibrillator and a heroic dose of mushrooms for the genre, while Monograms is balls out rock that isn't afraid to have insidiously catchy vocal melodies. Prepare your headspace accordingly. Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N. Front St., 8pm, $6, 21+ - Keith Kelley
