The Deli sponsors LPR's On The Rise night with Lip Talk, Dinowalrus and Raia Was

On February 1st, The Deli will be start sponsoring Le Poisson Rouge's "On The Rise" series, which is focused on outstanding local, emerging artists. We'll be curious to see live again two artists we booked a few years ago and that have had the patience to hone their skill and grow throughout the years (rare thing in the band business): we are referring to hybrid, avant-indie quartet Lip Talk, and psych rock turned psych pop band Dinowalrus. Noteworthy singer songwriter Raia Was will round out a night of great music made in NYC.

Check out each artist's latest single below, and buy tickets here - there will be free magazines for all!

Dinowalrus opens for The Charlatans tonight (11.10) at Webster Hall + plays Knit on 12.15

Boastin one of the best band names ever, Dinowalrus have been at it for quite some time now (they started in 2008). In that time frame, their sound has evolved quite radically from the crazy psychedelic beginning. The band had a couple of really prolific years with two full lengths released in 2013 ("Best Behavior") and 2014 ("Complexion"), both packed with quality songs that underscore the band's transition towards a more linear synth-pop structure, while referencing new wave bands with psych tendencies like Talk Talk and Psychedelic Furs. The opening track of their latest album, "Lucite," perfectly illustrates this metamorphosis. Check out our favorite song "Tropical Depression," below, and don't miss Dinowalrus live tonight (11.10), opening for UK legends The Charlatans at Webster Hall, or at The Knit on 12.15.

We added this song to The Deli's playlist of Best Psych Rock songs by emerging NYC artists - check it out!

Dinowalrus releases new track + plays Public Assembly (Lady Bree Presents)

Having worked and re-worked its baggy-psychedelia cocktail, Brooklyn-based trio Dinowalrus set off in March towards its best efforts to date with 'What Now', pulling the droning vocals out of the washed-out depths of their reverb', picking up the pace with some fast steady drumbeats and glorious effusions of synth and guitars. Dropped five days ago, the shimmering 'Grounded' pursued this fuller, more fluid sound, only slower, so very laid-back that one can't help but notice the confidence they've gained over the last couple of years. If we're going to extrapolate here, there's a bigger and bolder Dinowalrus to be expected from their album to come (produced by Jorge Elbrecht).

The band will be playing this Friday (8.24) at Public Assembly, for a show introducing Ken Griffin's latest project August Wells and headlined by Variety Lights, Chicago-based duo featuring ex-Mercury Rev David Baker. All of this and more (including a Dj Set by Spacemen 3's Rosco) courtesy of the lovely Lady Bree.

Dinowalrus premiers track from upcoming album "Best Behavior"

Dinowalrus - a Brooklyn band with a great name indeed - just announced the release of their sophomore release, scheduled for March 2003 on Kanine, and shared with the public a preview track ("What Now", streaming below) which discloses more fluid sonics and an increased focus on songwriting. The band's new sound seems to leave behind the harsh and sometimes quirky psychedelic experimentation of their beginnings and find inspiration instead in the British psych-pop wave of the late 80s.
