We hope you are just as excited as we are for The Last Chance Dance this Friday. We've teamed up with Kelly Ruth to put on a pop-up show at Lucky Bamboo China Bistro (5855 Charlotte Pike), an unlikely but then again totally perfect venue to catch a night of great music, giveaways, and fun. In addition to Kelly Ruth and her band, we have Twiggs, Blackfoot Gypsies, and Korby Lenker in the lineup, as well as DJ AyDamn spinning between sets.  We've even made if Valentine's Day-themed for all those lacking the huevos to ask out their crushes on the 14th. To sweeten the deal even more, tickets are up for sale via Soundstamp for a cool $6, saving you a couple bucks from door price of $10. Need another reason to get out on Friday night? How about the fact that this show is BYOB? Come on out, booze it up and maybe even get down. Do you have a crush like Korby Lenker's "Book Nerd?" This could be your last chance to make a move! -Terra James-Jura

Show Alert: Dustin Sellers, Kelly Ruth and Kylie Rothfield at The Stone Fox 11.19

We highly recommend heading out to The Stone Fox tonight to catch this lineup: Kelly Ruth, Dustin Sellers and Kylie Rothfield. These three artists boast distinctly different styles, but when taking into account their healthy respect for classics, the evening comes together as a cohesive whole. We're always tickled when there's an underlying un-or-intentional theme. The show tonight starts at 8pm, and cover is $5.

Kelly Ruth channels a 1940's-jazz-chanteuse-via-Jenny-Lewis in her indie-folk tunes. It's always a question whether she will break out her upright bass during a show, but intelligent songwriting and poignant lyrics are never a variable.  Ruth recieved a ton of buzz around her interpretation of "Monster Mash," a video created to help promote epic Halloween party Monster Bash 2014, in which she sings really well and murders a few Nashville friends.

Dustin Sellers carries on the retro tradition of his other project The Magnolia Sons, hitting the stage with a group of American Bandstand-ready musicians. He the counters skinny ties and homages to soul greats with a hefty dose of folk and alternative to his music, ending up at an intersection of some unlikely roads that totally mesh thanks to his studied songwriting. Sellers is working on a second full-length album with a tenative December release date.

Kylie Rothfield interprets American blues in the school of Stevie Ray Vaghan with a Adele filter. The 22-year-old is already a salty road dog since her graduation from Boston's Berklee College of Music, with a few national and one internatinoal tours already under her belt. She's putting the finishing touches on a brand new single, but for right now we're charmed by the walk she takes up and down the fretboard on her song "Cold in My Soul."

Watch Kelly Ruth's "Monster Mash" Video; Attend Monster Bash 2014; Regret Nothing

We may have touched upon this upcoming show when talking about Tetherball earlier, but we're worried that the depth and scope of the event wasn't fully communicated. Monster Bash 2014 is scheduled for October 31st at Silver Point Studios, and will offer 16 bands on two stages, as well as a costume contest, tarot readings, and, most appropriately, a haunted house (because anyone that has sought out 10 Quality Way has probably already had a moment of fear that they were one wrong turn away from Saw VII.) Behind the madness is Palaver Records and Madhouse Management, which accounts for the awesome lineup including the likes of Kyle Andrews, The Wans, Sol Cat, The Blackfoot Gypsies, and Kelly Ruth.

Speaking of Kelly Ruth, the laid-back princess of quirk has released a video for her rendition of "Monster Mash" in honor of the occasion. Cute, campy, packed with familiar faces and lacking in neither confetti or the macabre, it sums up the spirit of the evening in one fell swoop. Tickets for the night are $15 in advance and $20 at the door, and are available HERE. -Terra James-Jura

Show Alert: Kelly Ruth at fooBar 7.24

Kelly Ruth was mentioned here early this past spring, as she took up a residency at the East Room, and subsequently transformed it.  She had a hand in involving a number of local artists that we love (Honey Locust and Phantom Farmer, to name a few) for the month of April, and has earned a place in our hearts for that, because beneath our thin candy shell runs a neverending reel of new and emerging artists.  She's been playing her sweetly vintage folk rock around Nashville since, with her next performance this evening at fooBar as part of Palaver Records weekly showcase.  The evening's well-curated lineup also includes Juliana Daily and Midnight Pilot; it's going to be a great show.  Watch Ruth perform "Blue-eyed Lover" below and get a concentrated hit of her throwback style (and see if she doesn't rival Zooey Deshanel in adorable dissaffection.) Tonight's show starts at 9pm, and cover is $5.  -Terra James-Jura
