Miss Geo

Miss Geo, Rich People Food, Kitschenettes and Elsewhere at TT the Bear's Place This Wednesday

For anyone sadly unaware of the aural bliss that will be coming from TT the Bear’s Place this Wednesday night, February 12, fear not; I will now fill you in on a show you simply cannot miss. Dance-pop duo Miss Geo will be playing their synth grooves alongside Rich People Food, Kitschenettes and Elsewhere. This bill is sure to brighten up even the most dreary of winter weekday moods. If you’re free (and why wouldn't you be--it’s a Wednesday night!), come by Central Square in Cambridge and check it out.

Doors are at 8:30, with Elsewhere kicking it off at 9PM. $9 cover, 18+. Proper ID required.

Miss Geo, Atlantic Thrills and Mals Totem qualify for next stage of our Year-End Poll

Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the top three bands in our Open Submissions, here are the runner-ups. In fourth place is Miss Geo, an indie pop duo from Newport, Rhode Island. The pair’s song “Waves” is a groovy, fun ditty with synths lifted straight out of the 80s, and they’re preparing a new album to be released this spring.

Atlantic Thrills was the fifth place finalist. To drum up noise for their upcoming album, set for release on February 4, the band recently released the video for its single “Day at the Beach.” The song is a catchy surf rock tune and its video will have you longing for summer.

Last but not least is Mals Totem, in sixth place. The band’s self-titled EP, released in September, has its share of quiet moments, but the band is best when it’s at its loudest. For the best example, just take a listen to the driving chorus in “Gargantuan.” – Jake Reed

New Single "Waves" from Miss Geo

Miss Geo is finally ready to put forth some glorious new electro-dance grooves, and I couldn't be more excited about it. Their newest single, "Waves", is full of the fun, catchy melodies and snyth lines that I first came to enjoy when I reviewed a disc of theirs a couple of years ago. I can't wait to hear what Miss Geo has planned for the rest of the album, but I'm sure it will be nothing short of wicked awesome.

If you're in the area, Miss Geo will be playing The Middle East Upstairs on October 21. Show starts at 8PM. Tickets are $10, 18+ with proper ID.
