Loose Tooth Opening for Meat Wave at Everybody Hits Oct. 20

With riffs establishing a framework that is jarring while rushing forward in abbreviated bursts, hooking into your sides with unshielded, witty lyrics, Loose Tooth develops a pop-punk sound that snaps into action. The band provides quick-hitting songs that accelerate, merging percussion and high-gear guitar to force the issue; however, the quartet is also able to downshift, allowing the focus to alter on a zoomed-in perspective, softening the blow. The exposed dynamite lined alt-rock of Mumblr joins in on the fun at the batting cages. With a freshly released record, Delusion Moon, via SideOneDummy Records, post-punk trio Meat Wave and raucous Canadian rockers The Dirty Nil complete a bill that is the attitude adjustment one needs on a Tuesday. One Year Anniversary! at Lavender Town Sept. 5

Establishing and maintaining a space where like-minded people can express, perform, and absorb creativity is a complex/ tricky endeavor. DIY spaces are a vital component to a city's underground and independent music scene. However, these spaces are often short-lived. Tonight the 1-year anniversary of Lavender Town is commemorated with a lineup befitting of celebration including the jarring emotional alt-rock exploits of Mumblr and melodic indie rockers The Mellowells. Abi Reimold with a full band delivers her accustomed clash of musical weather currents, resulting in a beautiful yet turbulent storm. The outlaw hip hop of Cornelius The Third, the funky surf-rock concoction of New Brunswick’s Professor Caveman, the tempered charge of New York punks InCircles, and acoustic folk rocker Curtis Cooper help to ring in the beginning of year 2. Cheers! Lavender Town, (Please contact one of the acts or venue for more information.) 6:30pm, $3-$5, All Ages - Michael Colavita

Final Day of Sundrop Music Festival at The Fire May 24

The third and final day of the 5th annual Sundrop Music Festival (presented by Philadelphia Brewing Company & iRadio Philly) packs The Fire with an eclectic range of talent from the afternoon through the evening. Among those performing are the murky, dance-inspiring, electronic synth/percussion exploits of qqq, the chilled-out, gentle-swaying pop-rock of singer/songwriter Bryant Eugene Vazquez & The Songs, and the emotive alt-rock of Mumblr, whom have a propensity to shift those glum moments in combustible rockers. The sharp spun rhymes of The Bul Bey and the soul-filled electronic R&B Elegant Animals pave the way to a full day of enjoying that time off. The Fire, 412 W. Girard Ave., 2pm, Free, All Ages - Michael Colavita

Mumblr Staying Active at Everybody Hits April 1

Alt rockers Mumblr were one of the most active local acts last year, willing to perform anywhere and everywhere around Philly. That spirit has continued into 2015 with the band gearing up to hit the road next week for an East Coast tour with Soda Bomb. However, they do have a rad show this evening at Everybody Hits where you'll find the group hosting The Deli NYC's 2013 Artist of the Year, Big Ups. They'll also be joined by fiery NYC transplants Mannequin Pussy and all-female punk-pop trio Blowdryer. No, this is not an April Fool's prank, and hump day just got a whole lot better! (BTW: Check out Mumblr's recent visit to Sleepless Sound Studio for their Red Room Series HERE.) Everybody Hits, 529 W. Girard Ave., 8pm, $7 Donation, All Ages - Alexis V.
