Mumblr

Weekend Warrior, September 19 - 21

Tonight, the ruthless instrumental surges of Mumblr storms the Golden Tea House. With the release of the group's ambitious seventeen-song full-length album Full of Snakes (Fleeting Youth) earlier this week, the quartet casts a somewhat ominous yet tongue-in-cheek outlook on life. Developing an agitated, grunge tone through their primal attacking technique, synching jagged slivers of guitar, with anticipatory, pulse-accelerating backend and vocals that cap the message, Mumblr will be celebrating the release of the band's LP this evening alongside Mike Bell & The Movies, who just release their "Everyone" CD single via , Philly punks Community Service, and Long Island's Soda Bomb. Golden Tea House, (Please contact one of the acts or venue for more info.), 7:30pm, $5 Donation, All Ages - Michael Colavita

New Mumblr LP Available for Streaming

Fuzz-rock quartet Mumblr just made its forthcoming LP Full of Snakes available for streaming in its entirety over at Impose. The album, whose name is derived from drummer Scott Stitzer's phrase for how he felt after a heavy night of drinking, is the bands most polished and interesting record to date. Full of Snakes is set to be released on September 16 via Fleeting Youth Records, and the band will be celebrating its release on September 19 at Golden Tea House.

Here's a new track from Mumblr's forthcoming album Full of Snakes called "Got It," which you can stream and download for free. It's the third single from the record, and is about "being a strange, confused young man; feigning confidence and asking people to take him as he is," according to frontman Nick Morrison. Full of Snakes will be available on September 16 via Fleeting Youth Records, and the band will be celebrating its release on Friday, September 19 at Golden Tea House.

Lil Sean Day at PhilaMOCA Aug. 30

When PhilaMOCA’s Eric Bresler first noticed Sean “Lil Sean” Coleman dancing outside during a Mad Decent Block Party a few years ago, it ignited into a friendship that saw Bresler take the mixed media venue’s neighbor under his wing, showing him the ropes. Over the years this mentorship has made Lil Sean an enigmatic presence during many of PhilaMOCA’s events, and the 1st ever Lil Sean Day will be a celebration of his many contributions. Lil Sean will be present for the screening of a short film that he had written, directed, and starred in - UNDERCOVER COPS, which is an homage to his policeman father. Scranton-based comedian/singer Pat Finnerty will also be on hand to perform one of Sean’s favorite songs "Reggae Dog," and PhilaMOCA will unveil their new Lil Sean Mural. Afterwards the event’s namesake will host a music showcase that will include Langor, Mumblr, Pushin’ It 2 The Limit, and Velvet Crayon. PhilaMOCA, 531 N. 12th St, 5pm, $5 - $10 donation, All Ages, - Bill McThrill

Free Download: "Philadelphia" - Mumblr

Here's the lead single from Mumblr's forthcoming LP, Full of Snakes, called "Philadelphia," which the band declares to be "...a portrait of the city we live in." An earlier, much different, and less polished version of the song appeared on their record, White Jesus, Black God. The new track is available for streaming and free download below, and Full of Snakes will be dropping September 16 via Fleeting Youth Records. They'll be performing this Saturday in Philly at Rembrandt's for a Rock to the Future benefit. (Photo by Pete Murray)
