PDX Pop Now Day 2 - What to Expect

Day 2 of PDX Pop Now actually starts at noon, with Friends of Noise and Music in the Schools act The Scribes. Mr. Bones will be repping an early but good spot for Good Cheer Records, and the Tamed West round out a nice early afternoon block of performances before the afternoon starts kicking in.

Andrew Endres Collective is bringing some jazzy vibes to the fest and Wave Action is filling in for Little Star just before 3:30.

Old Grape God and Speaker Minds are the fest's hip hop flavor for the day leading into punk af Tiny Knives and Love Cop, who have got their self described "hood goth" on lock.

Experimental artist Antecessor will ring the night in with a bit of strangeness, followed by a block of r&b feels from Lola Buzzkill and Fur Coats. Older school Portlanders Wooden Indian Burial Ground are closing out the night on a garagey note.

With just today and tomorrow left, PDX Pop has been off to a great start!

Wave Action will ride their way into your hearts

With no shortage of bands that fall under the surf or garage rock veil to give your attention to, sifting through what's worthy of your time can be exhaustively consuming. Bands that find ways to stand out from the bunch might be few and far between, but noobies Wave Action are already carving out their niche quickly and specifically.

Though they formed just early last year, Wave Action already have a considerable amount of moves under their belt, from their numerous near packed shows with local acts of varied genres, to their well received debut album and an upcoming tour in support of it to boot.

Pulling elements from post-punk, psych and indie to build their own special recipe for the new archetype of the styles, Wave Action both as people and as a band are hard not to fall for.

Their tour kickoff show is this Friday (the same day as our next Deli Portland Presents showcase!) at the Clinton St. Theater. So for $8, it'd be worth wishing them a safe trip after our showcase is done. We'll miss them.

Celebrate with Marcy's Band on Friday

A celebration is taking place for new Deli Portland Artists of the Month Marcy's Band this Friday. Not specifically for winning the poll, but it's also the graduation celebration for Marcy's Band member Jon Huteson Johnson, who's graduating from college. Part of the celebration will be a show at Valentine's that night, along with Kulululu, Wave Action and Ladywolf

Come congratulate the band on their win and Jon for winning at life!
