Kohoutek Opening for Dead Meadow at Underground Arts May 13

The rocket-fueled, over-driven sonic exploits of Kohoutek are set to launch from Underground Arts this evening. One braces for the long haul as this crew’s mind-warping noise-psych union shakes the foundation, bridging new connections amid the chaotic afterburn. Lock yourself in, hold on tight and enjoy the ride. Tonight, they’ll be joined on a billing that embraces the heavy, as the haunting rumble of Gondola creates a path to the grunge-shoegaze of Creepoid and the raunchy psych of Dead Meadow. Underground Arts, 1200 Callowhill St., 9pm, $14, 21+ - Michael Colavita

New Gondola EP Available For Streaming & Purchase

Recorded during the same sessions that resulted in their Get Bent album, Gondola recently issued a new EP The Floating East. The triad of songs captures a possessing mind-warping heaviness. The sticky fire of guitar licks slices through, unifying the pounding propulsion of bass and percussion as the vocals steer from deep in the valley. Catch the trio in the opening slot at Underground Arts Saturday as part of a lineup that also includes Creepoid, Kohoutek, and Dead Meadow.

Palm Offering Sonic Refuge Tonight at Goldy's

Gray skies continue to blanket the area, however, this evening’s show at Goldy’s offers a sonic refuge. With a four-pronged experimental psych-rocking arsenal, Palm drifts into the unknown, off the traditional path. The purposefully abrupt deviations develop a sense of anticipatory tension, pushing each song forward to an undisclosed location. Guitars twist in a murky dissonance as the juxtaposing vocals, a ghostly calm, penetrates the periphery. The smattering of backend, meanwhile, provides a steadying hand. Tonight, Palm will joined by the disenchanted daydream of Old Maybe and the introspective experimentation of Microsoft Saint. The innovative exploits of Atlanta’s Hellier Ulysses cap this imaginative evening.  - Goldy's, 723 Chestnut St. - 3FL, $7, 8pm, All Ages – Michael Colavita
