From the digital submissions: Airlands prepares sophomore LP

Brooklyn based artist Kevin Calaba performs under the moniker Airlands, a sophisticated art pop project that's about to release its second studio album. Calaba's liquid vocals encapsulate passion and longing. Single 'Love & Exhale' (streaming), off last year's self-titled debut album, is an intense ballad exuding almost mystical peace and tranquility; it will please the fans of Peter Gabriel from the 'So' years. The record is a perfect collection of music for the end of a long day, something many New Yorkers may appreciate. - Amanda McCall

Muscle and Marrow debut new track, announce 2nd album

Muscle and Marrow barreled onto the scene with 2014's The Human Cry, with rave reviews. The pair, consisting of vocalist and guitarist Kira Clark and drummer and sampler Keith McGraw took their sound to various stages in support of the album last year, including a raving performance at the 2015 PDX Pop Now Festival as well as playing to a packed house with True Widow at White Owl. Whether you deem them as metal, experimental or some sort of dark folk, it's undeniable that their emotive sounds evoke a contradictive chaotic calm.

Lucky for us, Muscle and Marrow premiered a new track yesterday via She Shreds. Coming off their upcoming sophmore effort, Love, "Bereft Body" builds up with a quiet vocality from Clark, leading into a cacophonic spree of instrumental emotion that suddenly stops, leaving desire.

Love comes out May 27th on The Flenser. Dive into "Bereft Body" below.

2nd NWPRC Showcase is here!

Bringing the best in Portland's post-rock scene, the Northwest Post-Rock Collective is hosting their second showcase tomorrow at Holocene. Comprised of Compass & Knife, Long Hallways, Another Neighbor Disappeared, A Collective Subconscious and Deli Portland Artist of the Month Coastlands, the collective seeks to build and properly represent the northwest's post-rock community. Washington contributions to the collective's showcase this year include a performance from Tacoma's Compass & Knife and a co-sponsorship from Post Radio Records, based near the Auburn area.

If you've ever enjoyed Explosions in the Sky or Godspeed, you literally have no reason to not be at this showcase tomorrow. Come get lost in the dream-like instrumentation.

Mega Bog moves to NYC, plays Shea on 04.30 and Rough Trade on 05.05

The impressionistic musical project of Seattle songwriter Erin Birgy - who recently moved to NYC - Mega Bog has been releasing intimate records flirting with folk, lo-fi and ambient since 2008. Her latest, entitled 'Gone Banana,' is a sleepy yet provocative LP that blends Joni Mitchell's delicately jazzy inclinations with Syd Barrett's dreamy, child-like preference for the unfinished draft. Check out our favorite song 'Gone Banana' below, and don't miss her upcoming live shows at Shea Stadium (04.30) and Rough Trade (05.05), after which she will leave for a US tour.

Stolen Jars play Mercury Lounge on 04.30

New Jersey's avant-folk-poppers Stolen Jars must have put a spell on us last fall, when we decided to put them on the cover of the CMJ 2015 issue of The Deli, since, judging from this adorable video of their single 'Kept,' they have friends in the magic business. Don't miss the band at Mercury Lounge on April 30th.
