CMJ Show Opportunity: Submit your band to play one of The Deli's Music Marathon 2015 shows! (FREE)

Musicians in The Deli World (i.e. the 12 local US scenes we cover - list here),

Once again, The Deli will give some emerging bands and artists the opportunity to play at one of its CMJ 2015 Music Marathon showcases.

This year we have booked a bunch of shows in the Lower East Side (Pianos on Friday night and Rockwood on Wednesday!) and Williamsburg (The Living Room on Saturday and Muchmore's on Thursday!), and - as usual - we'll have several stages for different musical genres.

We are looking to book 3 or more artists for these shows through this submissions system.

To be considered, all you need to do is to apply HERE - good luck!

Submission deadline: August 15, 2015.

Black Rabbit's Red Flannel Hash Delivers Powerful Rock n' Roll Punch

Red Flannel Hash, the latest record from Burlington, VT's Black Rabbit, is bursting at the seams with enough hard, fast guitar riffs to keep your head bouncing for weeks. My favorite track off the record is "Sayonara", with its catchy chorus and rowdy guitar solo. The song is over so quickly that by the time it's finished, you're left wondering: "what was that and why was it so incredibly awesome?"

EP Review: Apartment 3's Porch View

New England seems to have the whole lo-fi garage rock thing on lockdown recently. Burlington, VT’s Apartment 3 have added further evidence to that statement with their recent EP, Porch View. Heavily soaked in 90s indie rock sound (think Pavement or Built to Spill), these guys pump some insane energy through your headphones. I thought the vocals on these tracks were great--screams, shouts and everything in between. Most of the time it sounds like the singer drank a six pack and started belting out whatever immediately came to mind.

Unwind with Saint Lou This Weekend

Friday nights were made for whiskey drinkin' and relaxin', so why not start your Friday evening early with a few tracks from Burlington, VT's Saint Lou? The group's latest EP, The Buffalo Tapes, is a great mix of folk/blues/50s doo-wop grooves. It's the kind of stuff that makes you want to pour a glass of whiskey, kick off your shoes and soak up the weekend. The band will be on tour for a few dates in April and May, with a smattering of gigs in Vermont and NYC.
